Corplex Crafts Inspiring, Safe Haven for Kids at Keilor Downs Childcare
Corplex and Keilor Downs Childcare Centre have created an exceptional early learning environment; an architecturally considered, two-level facility that seamlessly blends function, safety and thoughtful design to support children, educators and families alike. Constructed using durable precast concrete panels, the centre has been built with longevity, efficiency and low maintenance in mind, while comfortably accommodating up to 122 children at any one time.
Located on a 2,250m² site, the development includes 900m² of internal building area and 855m² of dedicated outdoor play space, providing a balanced indoor-outdoor learning experience. The internal layout has been carefully planned to support a range of age groups, with purpose-designed rooms, amenities and circulation that promote supervision, accessibility and ease of movement throughout the centre.

Where Learning Meets Play: A Bright New Chapter for Keilor Downs Childcare
A key design highlight of this project is the inclusion of large, purpose-built play areas on both the ground floor and upper level, each surfaced in high-quality synthetic turf to ensure safety, comfort and low ongoing maintenance. The elevated outdoor play area required significant structural coordination, including slab design, waterproofing and drainage solutions, all delivered to meet strict regulatory and safety standards while maximising usable space for children.
The exterior of the building is enhanced with a Woodform ‘Concept Click’ batten system, adding warmth, texture and visual interest to the façade while reinforcing a welcoming, contemporary streetscape presence. This architectural treatment complements the surrounding environment and contributes to a sense of calm and approachability for families arriving at the centre.
Designing Childhood Joy: Corplex Delivers Modern Two-Level Childcare Facility
Internally, durable finishes, natural light and a considered colour palette help create engaging learning spaces that stimulate creativity while remaining practical for daily use. Educator workspaces, storage and back-of-house areas have been efficiently integrated to support smooth operations and high standards of care.
This build reflects Corplex’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality early learning facilities that prioritise safety, functionality and design excellence. It was a pleasure to collaborate with the Keilor Downs Childcare Centre team and project stakeholders to bring this vision to life, and we’re confident the facility will serve the local community for many years to come, fostering learning, wellbeing and creativity in a purpose-built setting.
